CHECKING CHILD CAR SEATS
Car seat safety checks are taking place in Portsmouth today.
More than 70% of the seat's tested earlier this month failed.
Badly fitted seats can mean the difference between life and death in an accident.
Parents are being urged to go along to Tesco in North Harbour to have their seats checked.
Cllr Jason Fazackarley, Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety, told 107.4 The Quay: “In the tests held at Sainsbury in Farlington and Asda in Fratton at the beginning of the month, a total of 151 car seats were tested, and out of those 108 failed.
“I think these results are very worrying and so would urge anyone who has a child car seat fitted to take advantage of this free opportunity to make sure car seats are secured correctly”.
